Before I begin, I have big plans for October. I’m thinking a horror movie a night to get
into the Halloween spirit. So maybe I
can get back to over 100 views a day instead of the seven currently.
I saw this movie last night at a screening so like I did
with the other screening posts, there won’t be any giving away of the plot. Also I couldn’t take notes so I don’t
remember events in their usual detail.
Literally the only thing I knew about this movie before last
night was that Emma Watson is in it.
Maybe this is sad, but it looks like that is all it takes for me to see
a movie I guess. Turns out The Perks of
Being a Wallflower is your formulaic high school coming of age movie. The main character is an outcast, things
start going good for him, then something bad happens and he spends the last 20
minutes or so trying to make things right (usually get girl friend back). What makes this movie different from the
others is instead of being quirky or cute, this one gets a little dark (which I
like).
For a teen drama, the acting is pretty good. The only movie I had seen the main character
lead before was that Percy Jackson and the Something Something movie which was forgettable
(and by forgettable I mean I wish I could forget) but he did a good enough
job. Emma Watson cements herself in my
top five by looking bangin even with a short buzz cut. The gay friend provided pretty good comic
relief too. I ended up laughing a fair
amount of times.
Rating: 7.5 Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolates. This isn’t my favorite type of movie but I
still really enjoyed it. I probably
wouldn’t pay to see it in theaters because visually it isn’t necessary and not
must see but I would say that if you ever come across it on Netflix, definitely
give it a watch.
I need to get onto photoshop and crop out all of the other bozos so it's just Emma
Pow
